About TheDanceOver

Bringing the dancing community to a place where dance happens

TheDanceOver is a website for dance amateurs and professionals alike. We welcome all dancers to join us and explore the our website for dancewear resale, dance experiences, tips and advice offered by our members.

TheDanceOver was created especially for dancers.

As a dancer, there are so many elements to factor in as you study, practice and perform your art. These elements can include choosing a dance style, finding a teacher, planning a lesson schedule, buying shoes and accessories for lessons, finding a costume to wear.

As a dancer, you’ll also be thinking about whether you want to dance socially, or whether to perform or compete. All of these factors are dependent on your time, what is available to you locally and of course, your budget.

TheDanceOver is here to be part of your exciting dance journey!

We’re here to help you connect with other dancers like you, who share your passion for dance and who can also share experiences, tips and resources on our Forum/Message Board. Not only that, TheDanceOver makes available a space for dancewear resale for members.

We also feature events, competitions and performances involving dance. If you would like your event to be posted on our website, just contact us and we will post it for free.

About The Founder

The founder is a longtime dancer who is passionate about all things dance. Her primary focus is Ballroom dance, including Latin and Standard, but she also has a love for all forms of dance including Argentine Tango, Salsa, African Dance, Belly Dance, Ballet and Hiphop.

The founder, who speaks four languages, believes that dance is another language that we can use to communicate with others and with oneself; at a social level when interacting with fellow dancers who share the love of dance, but also at a deeper level when the dancer learns the language of their body and how it relates to everything else in their life.

The founder created TheDanceOver when she noted that the beautiful and elaborate costumes worn in performances and competitions were rarely used more than once or twice.

These costumes, exquisitely fashioned and in great condition, have the potential to be re-used and re-cycled by several dancers through resale.

Moreover the costs incurred by the original owner can be partially recovered through online re-sale of the costume to another dancer, who also benefits by paying a lower price for the costume than when it was new.

TheDanceOver supports new and experienced dancers alike in their dance journeys by promoting the recycling of luxury dancewear, allowing for recovery of investments for the longtime dancer, while making dancewear accessible to the beginner dancer, thus decreasing accumulation of dancewear and creating a sustainable future for the dance community and the environment.

When not dancing, the founder works at her profession, which is a Neonatologist, taking care of sick babies.
